Last week I wrote about the return of bronzer. For months and months, beauty has been all about blush, then came the Rhode pocket bronzers (signalling a Euro summer vibe shift). But there’s also a hybrid category that exists: blonzer.
While technically a made up word, blonzer is a combination of blush and bronzer for skin that looks look tanned and burnished at once – as if you’ve been on vacation, developed a deep tan, but are also flushed from the heat. Blonzer can be a single product that sits half way between bronzer and blush, or you can mix blush and bronzer that you already have. The choice is yours.
Maybe you want to cut down steps, maybe you want to look like Gisele Bündchen in the early 2000s. Whatever the motive, blonzer is an easy, effective way to mimic holiday skin, whether you’re heading some place or not. It’s also a useful technique to give your complexion a sun kissed effect without the need for actual bronzer (a complicated skin step for some).
Fara Homidi’s soon to launch blonzer, aptly described as ‘sun soaked’.
What is blonzer?
Blonzer is basically a word to describe a mix of blush and bronzer. You can try a single formula that combines the warmth of bronzer with the freshness of blush (i.e. a pink-ish/reddish brown), or layer two single formulas – a classic bronzer and a classic blush – on top of one another. The idea is that is leaves the skin looking glowy, tanned and flushed at once in a natural-looking way.
How to use blonzer
Blonzer should go on the high points of the face where the sun would naturally warm; think across the cheeks into the temples, on the bride of the nose, on the centre of the forehead and the chin. Aim for a soft but even layer that looks sporty but believable. How you apply will depend on the formula. If you’re using creams, try your fingers or a dense brush. Powder works best with a fluffy brush. Don’t use anything too big so you can control the application area.
