Fashion month is drawing to a close, but the runway beauty looks have been all time. From beaded brows to ombre lips and the return of fluffy, frizzy, almost static hair (thank you, Mrs Prada) there’s so much to admire and be inspired by.
As we know, fashion month and the subsequent runway looks also serve as a north star for the months ahead, and if SS27 is anything to go by, we can expect to see maximalist details, drama, some grunge, and plenty of gorgeous skin.
Below, the best of SS27 beauty, according to RUSSH.
Beading at Simone Rocha
Maybe one of the best looks was a beaded flower motif designed by makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver at Simone Rocha. Also perfect: oxblood lips, raw skin and slick buns.
Camp colour at Thom Browne
Aaron Demey gave us an 80s fever dream at Thom Browne – rainbow eyeshadow, extreme blush and lacquered lips (all at once). More is definitely more in this case.
Eyes wide open at Hoda Kova
Runway beauty is often quite safe but de Kluyver pushed into eerie territory with permanently open eyes at the Hoda Kova show. The look was achieved with an eye painted on the eyelid, so no matter if the eye was open or not, it appeared so. I loved this look.
Nostalgic blowouts
Conner Ives was a standout – the world is obsessed with its outerwear and I get it. I equally loved the airy, bouncy blow outs by Claire Grech. Vintage but unfussy glamour. Makes me want to go out and buy a set of velcro rollers.
Stitched French twist
Mara Roszak, the founder of RŌZ hair care, created a beautiful updo for NYC brand Kallymer, sewn together with a thick piece of cord. I love the mood board (share below – swipe across one slide).
Intensity at Gucci
If there’s one thing we can reply on from Demna’s Gucci it’s sexy glamour and Sam Visser is just the makeup artist to deliver on that front. Gucci’s beauty looked leaned heavily into maximalism – exaggerated colour, intensity, and at times, more than one focus feature. I really love the pink and black shadow on Alex Cosani.
Ombre lips at Dries Van Noten
One of my favourite looks by far is this ombre lip at Dries by Thomas de Kluyver. With graduated shades of melting red, pink and orange it’s incredible to look at.
All that glitters at Dior
I love Peter Philips’ take on metallics at Dior. Each model wore either a skinny silver liner or fat glittery wing against clean, glassy skin.
Python nails
Also at Dior: this python print manicure by Anna Quashie.
Rust at Jean Paul Gaultier
de Kluyver also presented a wearable palette of rust, bronze and burgundy at JPG. The lip colour in particular is perfect.
Frizz at Prada
I always love Prada’s eccentric, bookish take on beauty. The SS27 runway paired super fluffy, wispy hair with raw skin, full brows and sporty eyewear.
