Today is a good day, because according to Instagram account People, Brands and Things, makeup artist Nina Park is launching her very own makeup brand.
The post reports that, according to Beauty Independent, Park has filed a trademark under her own name for cosmetics, makeup, brushes and accessories. She also briefly mentioned it it in an interview with Vogue Korea back in January.
It takes a lot for a new brand to warrant proper hype these days, given how saturated beauty is, but this is big news. Park is undoubtedly one of the most in demand makeup artists in recent years, Internet famous for her ‘Nina Park Lip’ technique. Park, who regularly works with the likes of Zoë Kravitz, Margaret Qualley and Hailey Bieber, is known for her unique K-beauty inspired lining technique, layering cool-tones with pink, peach and berry to create a full, multi-dimensional lip look.
Her ability to smoke out the perfect baby winged liner is also a point of much discussion. Essentially, Park’s makeup style is natural but kind of sultry, with no hard edges or bold colours – just soft lines, blurred edges, volume and lots of blending (i.e. exactly the kind of makeup we want to wear every single day).
There’s no word exactly as to what Park will release as part of the upcoming brand, but if we had to guess, she might take a similar path as fellow artist Mary Phillips, who launched her best-selling underpainting palette after the technique went viral on Instagram. Park, who is known for her use of warm and cool liners to sculpt a full lip, would absolutely have my money if she launched a lip liner or lip kit modelled after her own method. As per Beauty Independent, she’s also filed for trademarked protection on the product name ‘Lipshadow’.
Unfortunately, there’s also no word on exactly when this will launch, but fingers crossed it’s sooner rather than later. We’ll keep you updated as news emerges. Until then, Park loves the CHANEL Beauty liner in Nude Brun.
