CHANEL has announced it will bring its Resort 2027 collection to Sydney, marking a major moment for Australia’s fashion industry.
The French luxury house confirmed it will stage the show on November 5, re-presenting the Resort 2027 collection first unveiled in Biarritz, France, in April this year. While the venue is yet to be announced, the event is expected to draw international press, clients and industry figures to Sydney.
The significance of the announcement extends beyond the runway itself. While Australia has long contributed to the global fashion landscape through its designers, models and creative talent, it has rarely been the stage for a luxury fashion event of this scale. CHANEL’s travelling resort shows are among the industry’s most closely watched events, transforming their host cities into temporary fashion capitals and attracting worldwide attention.
The Sydney presentation also arrives at a significant moment of change for the house. Since appointing Matthieu Blazy as artistic director in late 2024, CHANEL has entered a new creative chapter, with the industry closely watching how one of fashion’s most influential designers will shape the future of the maison.
Sydney’s selection also feels like the natural culmination of CHANEL’s longstanding relationship with Australian talent. From Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann to more recent ambassadors Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the house has repeatedly looked to Australian actors, filmmakers and models to help tell its story, reinforcing Australia’s place within CHANEL’s wider cultural orbit.
