There are objects we wear, and others we keep. Objects that transcend function to become something more personal – markers of time, taste and the moments that define us. It is this relationship between craftsmanship, desire and permanence that sits at the heart of RUSSH’s inaugural Watch & Jewellery supplement, unveiled as part of our September Let Taste Live issue.
A celebration of the objects, makers and obsessions that define the world of haute horlogerie and fine jewellery, the supplement explores the art of collecting and the enduring appeal of things made to last. From Geneva to conversations with collectors, jewellers and horophiles, we enter a world where craftsmanship meets desire, and collecting becomes something deeply personal and intuitive.
Introducing this inaugural edition, model Amou Ring brings a sense of movement to the latest Longines Master Collection. Photographed by James Tolich and styled by Hannah Cooper, the shoot places the watches against a series of sculptural wooden structures, within an environment of natural texture, strong lines and considered form, where tailored silhouettes meet the warmth and rawness of timber.
That balance between structure and softness feels particularly fitting for the newly redesigned collection. First introduced more than 20 years ago, the Longines Master Collection enters a new chapter, bringing the brand’s heritage of watchmaking into sharper contemporary focus. Concave bezels, newly considered proportions and richly textured dials refine the collection’s familiar codes, while a broader range of sizes and complications gives its classic sensibility a distinctly modern versatility.
At the centre is the dial. Barleycorn guilloché introduces depth and movement across the surface, catching the light with every shift of the wrist. Applied Arabic numerals draw on Longines’ historical design language, while newly designed hands and a more open dial architecture bring a sense of clarity and ease. Across the collection, details are purposeful rather than decorative – a philosophy that extends to the redesigned bracelets, shortened links and folding clasps with micro-adjustment.
For Longines, this is elegance as something enduring but never static. The collection brings together precision, proportion and craftsmanship in watches designed to move effortlessly between moments.
It is a sentiment that speaks to the wider exploration within RUSSH’s inaugural Watch & Jewellery supplement: a study in time, permanence and the objects we choose to keep.
