12 brooches we’re pinning to everything

WORDS Kirsty Thatcher    PUBLISHED Thu, 25 Jun 2026 – 1:00 pm

Winter fashion can sometimes be given a bad rap. As temperatures drop, practicality tends to take precedence over experimentation. We’re guilty of reaching for the same trusted coat, the same oversized knit, the same funnel neck jacket. Throw in the fact that winter fashion tends to lean towards a neutral colour palette, and it’s hardly surprising that we’re left craving something a little less predictable in our wardrobes.

But luckily, this season, a small but might accessory has arrived to fix our winter woes. Enter, the brooch. Across recent runways, decorative pins have reigned supreme in just about every iteration.

Most recently, Jonathan Anderson embraced the accessory at his Spring Summer 2027 menswear show, adorning lapels with delicate floral brooches and embellishing knitwear with glittering, tinsel-like pins. At Giorgio Armani’s Autumn Winter 2026 show, lion-shaped brooches punctuated softly tailored suits. Matthieu Blazy kicked off his tenure at CHANEL with a range of abstract, flora-inspired brooches adorning classic tweed styles. And at Conner Ives, sparkling brooches added a dose of glamour to sharply cut evening tailoring.

Of course, the brooch’s appeal extends beyond the runway. At a time when fashion is increasingly reckoning with overconsumption, the brooch offers something refreshingly simple: a way to make an existing pieces feel new again. Whether pinned to a lapel or fastened to a wasitband, the humble brooch can transform your wardrobe, and is a simple shortcut to individuality. What’s more, a brooch doesn’t need to be new to have impact. Some of our favourite styles are found trawling the shelves of a thrift shop (or better yet, your grandmother’s wardrobe), rather than in a new-season collection.

Below, discover the brooches we’re pinning to everything this winter.
