Australians are a thrifty bunch – we love the thrill of a vintage or secondhand find. And after turning platforms like Depop and eBay into thriving marketplaces, it makes sense that another major player is entering the local market.
Yes, Vinted, one of Europe’s largest second-hand shopping platforms, is officially launching in Australia. That means there’s a whole new trove of undiscovered treasures to dig through (virtually, anyway) and we can hardly wait.

When is Vinted launching in Australia?
Vinted officially launches in Australia on July 1.
From launch day, Australians will be able to download the app, create listings and browse items from sellers across the country.
What is Vinted and how does it work?
For the uninitiated, Vinted is a peer-to-peer marketplace that allows users to buy and sell second-hand goods directly with one another. It was founded in Lithuania in 2008, and has gone on to become one of the largest resale marketplaces in Europe.
Sellers can photograph and upload items directly through the app, set their own prices and communicate with buyers within the platform. Vinted Australia has partnered with Australia Post on shipping. So once an item sells, the app generates a prepaid shipping label, allowing sellers to drop parcels at their nearest Australia Post location.
Payments are handled through the platform, and buyers are covered by Vinted’s Buyer Protection program. That means if an item is lost, damaged during transit or significantly different from its description, you may be eligible for a refund.
Is Vinted free to sell on?
One of Vinted’s biggest selling points is its fee structure.
Unlike many other resale platforms, Vinted does not charge sellers listing or selling fees, meaning users keep the full amount they earn from each sale.
Instead, buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee that helps cover customer support and transaction security.
Will Australians be able to buy from international sellers on Vinted?
Vinted has not yet confirmed the full scope of its international shipping offering for Australian users. However, the platform already facilitates this in several overseas markets, so our fingers are crossed.
