In partnership with Rabanne
What makes a good party? Music, for one – even better if it’s live. Snacks, a drink or two. An unbridled dance floor is also important. In essence, a great party should appeal to all the senses: taste, touch, sight, hearing and scent. Last night at Number 10 in Darlinghurst, Rabanne did just that. In celebration of its latest masculine fragrance, 1 Million Black, the house took over the inner city warehouse, filling it with friends and creative minds, including Tyde Levi, Diana Avel, Roxie Mohebbi, Charlee Fraser, Jessica Picton-Warlow, Mariangel Ballestas and Janitha Perera, who danced the night away (smelling really good while they were at it).

The night started slowly, with guests milling from around 7 p.m. With the locally shot campaign film by Phoebe Wolfe projected onto the walls, the bar served up a steady stream of signature espresso martinis (a pre-dance requisite). Delicious notes of 1 Million Black – pineapple, cardamom, coconut, clary sage and vanilla – filled the space. Fans of the original (and very iconic) 1 Million eau de parfum will probably love the creamy, tropical facet of the new scent. It has all the longevity, projection and memorability, as well.

Mini cheeseburgers and french fries went around on silver platters while improv band Sultry & Sample took care of the music (and by default, the vibes). The group involves a rotating mix of new and established musicians who improvise live – it was incredible and really set the scene. The music continued: R&B artist Pania performed for the group on top of the bar (really) before the later hours were made special with a DJ set by Tyde Levi. The dance floor was heavy, the music was addictive, and the air around us smelt like pineapple, woods and vanilla. If you’re wondering what makes a perfect party, turns out it’s all of the above.
