One could argue denim is the most versatile of fabrics. But with many options of differing weights, washes and fits, it can sometimes prove a momentous task in finding great quality denim that will not only last a lifetime, but fit.
We all know that as humans, we are built differently from one another, so what may fit my body, may not fit yours. That’s why trial and error is part and parcel with finding the pair of jeans that’ll fit just right or the denim jacket cropped at the right height – no gaping or pulling please and thank you. If only we were all a part of the sisterhood of travelling pants…

Every year I inch closer to finding the perfect pair of jeans. Sometimes I’m not sure I’ll ever quite get there. But right now, I feel pretty damn close. I’m loving a new pair of Friends With Frank Felicity Denim Trousers – the pleat makes them feel a little more elevated, like a suit trouser.
I have a friend with a very chic denim trench that’s inspired me of late to invest. I’m eyeing off the AJE Lorraine Denim Trench Coat for something a little more detailed. In a dream world I’m also adding the Dior Long Blouse with Tied Collar to cart. I also just think there’s nothing chicer than a midi-skirt – and this Armani Vintage-look one is on sale for a great price right now. This Zimmermann Embroidered Bucket Hat is really adorable and as a pale-skinned gal I’m always looking for a bit of extra sun-protection.

On average, I wear denim 6 days a week. It’s become part of my so-called ‘uniform’, and whilst my favourite pairs have been in my wardrobe for over 5 years, it’s a collection that continues to grow.
I tend to stick with what I know works for me: Neuw and Lee Mathews for their silhouettes and durability, Agolde for shorts and denim with a little stretch, and Acne Studios when I’m after something a bit more directional.
I’ve been eyeing a few new additions based on a self-directed brief of unlikeness, and ‘the perfect blue wash’. Our Legacy does a worn-in wash well (I just can’t settle on a colour), while Nilli Lotan has a French sensibility that I adore. Acne Studio’s is also tempting me with this suede effect pair.

For reasons I am yet to fathom, I find denim in forms other than jeans much easier to work with. My go-to denim is always a vintage Helmut Lang Jacket, it is perfect (and while technically belongs to my partner, I wear it more). Given my penchant for a long line jacket, the Enzo Coat by Camilla and Marx is on my list. I adore a large pocket, both aesthetically and practically.
I also feel denim is overlooked as a fun alternative to leather for bags and shoes, such as these fun pumps from Jimmy Choo or JW Anderson’s Loafer bag. When it comes to jeans themselves, I’ve spoken before about my love of the Beare Park high rise jeans which are a lovely cut and great for tall girls. I’m keen to get my legs into a pair of these barrelled jeans from Frame. I have a pair of their flares which have lasted me the best part of a decade.
If dreams could come true, I would adore a Chanel 25 in denim. It’s the sort of bag that warrants a holiday in the south of France.

I’ve written about both these pairs of jeans a few times before but I live and die by the Levi’s Cinch Baggy Jeans and the Levi’s 501 90s. The Cinch Baggy have these snaps that allow you to tighten the waist, no more gap at the back. And the 501 90s are just a really flattering cut. I am also still wearing my Nobody Andi Jeans that I bought back in 2022, they’re so comfortable and make my legs look really long. They don’t sell them anymore but these are similar.
I am loving the Valentina Jeans from Henne, particularly the dark indigo wash. I’m also looking at this Anine Bing Denim jacket, it’s currently on sale at an outrageous price so I’m thinking this is a sign that it needs to come home with me.

I am in jeans about 90% of the time, so I feel like I have some authority on the topic. I am fairly loyal to Henne for everyday denim, and I just recently tried the Gisella style and (unsurprisingly) am obsessed. They’re a little lower and baggier than the Valentinas.
I recently discovered the brand aligrace on FWRD, and I love them – particularly this pair with small splits at the hem. They rework vintage Levi’s into custom styles, and they’re all so good.
SLVRLKE also does very reliable denim, and they’re stocked at The New Trend, so you can try them on in store. I’m quite into this sandy colour at the moment. I’m also a baggy denim short devotee. I wish it was warm enough in Sydney to wear them year-round.
I’ve never been big into denim jackets or other accessories, but I would sell my soul for these Chanel ballet flats. Forever trawling resale sites for my size.

The best things in life are… denim. If you know me, you’ll know my love for denim runs deep. My most worn (and most loved) pair would have to be the Filomena jeans from Henne. I fell so in love with the blue denim wash that I eventually bought them in black, too. I also love pairing them back with the Sophia Jacket for a denim-on-denim moment. Another strong contender is my pair of Agolde jeans. The low curve silhouette is the perfect fit and, perhaps even more impressively, one of the only pairs of pants I’ve owned that didn’t need to be altered or taken up.
When it comes to denim jackets, I’m currently loving this style from CAMILLA AND MARC and this style from Venroy has also caught my eye. For accessories, I’ve always dreamed of owning this denim Prada bag. I’ve also recently added these denim Jimmy Choo heels to the list, which I’m hoping will come in handy for a future occasion.

I love the way denim jacket makes me feel. I always feel an extra sense of cool. A couple of jackets I currently have saved are the Benji Denim Shirt from Elka Collective and this Scanlan Theodore Denim Oversized Jacket.
I’m a fan of denim accessories – they allow for a unique, personal patina that really tells a story. This Coach Loved Denim Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 already has a life-well-lived feel. And if a touch of denim is all I’m looking for, the Dior J’Adior Ballet Flats would be a perfect addition to my ballet flat line up.
The best for last: jeans. One can never go wrong with jeans. With so many shapes and washes, the world is our oyster. I have these Diesel Relaxed Jeans High Waist 1987 D-Khelz on my wishlist. I’d love to pick up a pair of P.JOHNSON Helen Jeans. And I must not forget the OG winner – Levi’s® Women’s 501® ’90s Jeans never let me down.
