For CHANEL Beauty, the fragrance métier is all about legacy. Every scent within the House tells a story; and this sentiment remains true for its latest creation, Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu.

The new fragrance is the work of in-house CHANEL Perfumer Olivier Polge. Juicy and bright, Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu has a vanilla, amber, and patchouli base, with sparkling top notes of lychee and grapefruit.

It was Polge’s father, Jacques Polge, who created the original Coco Mademoiselle back in 2001. The concept behind Coco Mademoiselle was to capture the youthful energy and rebellious femininity CHANEL had become synonymous with. Jacques took inspiration from his own previous creation, Coco, a 1984 CHANEL classic characterised by resin and warm spice. An homage to Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s love of all things opulent and baroque, the perfume was bold but decidedly sophisticated.

Coco Mademoiselle borrowed Coco’s ambery architecture, but offered a lighter, sweeter and somewhat fresh olfactory experience, thanks to the addition of flowers like rose and jasmine. It was an instant cult classic, and remains one of the best-selling perfumes to this day. Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu is an extension of this legacy; more than just a perfume, it’s designed to bottle up magnetic energy; desire, sensuality, excitement and captivation.

What does Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu smell like?

Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu borrows a similar structure of the original Coco Mademoiselle – there’s patchouli, jasmine and rose but with the addition of creamy vanilla in the base. The main difference however is the brightness of the opening: there’s lychee and grapefruit, giving the fragrance a juicy intensity. If you adore the statement-making richness of the original Coco Mademoiselle but love a juicy, jammy element, you’ll fall hard for Coco Crush Absolu.

When can I buy the fragrance?

The fragrance officially launches on the 2nd of September, so watch this space for more details. In the interim, you can explore the rest of the CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle range here.
